Graham D. Rowles PhD. (1946-) is one of the most recognized social geographers worldwide for his contributions to the geography of aging and environmental gerontology. Born in 1946 in Carshalton, Surrey, United Kingdom, he is currently a citizen of the United States. Dr. Rowles studied a bachelor's degree in Geography and a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Bristol (UK), as well as a Ph.D. in Geography at Clark University (Massachusetts) and a Post-Doctorate at Lilly Endowment Fellowship ). In his work experience he has been director of the Graduate Center for Gerontology, University of Kentucky, and is currently a professor of health behavior at the College of Public Health, University of Kentucky.

Dr. Graham D. Rowles has been interested in the geography of aging, making important contributions to the changing relationship between the elderly and their environment, first in rural areas (Appalachian Region) and then in urban areas, with careful attention to the variety of residential and institutional environments. Thanks to his studies on aging and the environment, his publications are a in the field of gerontology. Among Dr. Rowles' acknowledgments, he is a member of the Gerontological Society of America and the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education, of the Editorial Boards of the prestigious journals The Journal of Applied Gerontology and the Journal of Housing for the Elderly, as well as President Elect of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.
