Flag of Calgary
The flag of Calgary (Alberta) was drawn by Gwin Glarke and Yvonne Fritz as part of a contest organized on the occasion of the centennial of the city. It was officially adopted in 1983.
The flag contains a stetson (cowboy hat) and a white letter "C" on a red background. The stetson is located inside the letter "C", representing the inhabitants of the city. At the top and bottom of the flag are two fine white bands.
The colors red and white, official colors of the city, recall the colors of the traditional uniform of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and symbolize the spirit of hospitality and the development of the city.
