Fernando I, Martínez (bishop)
Fernando I Martínez was bishop of Oviedo between years 1269 and 1275. During his pontificado, the King did very good favors to the church of Oviedo and its successors in the episcopal seat to free them of the expolios and vacancies that previously received the Royal Crown. Also during this pontificate, brother Leon, companion of the seraphic Saint Francis of Assisi, founded in Benavente a convent of the Franciscan order, where he died in the odor of sanctity and was buried there.
