Fernando de la Quadra Salcedo


Fernando de la Quadra Salcedo and Arrieta Mascarua (Güeñes, 1890 - 25 September 1936) was a Spanish nobleman, lawyer and historian, III Marqués de Castillejos, an academician of the Royal Academy of History, director of the Institute Heraldic of Bilbao, and author of several historical works, especially genealogical. He belonged to the Roman School of the Pyrenees (of Basque intellectuals). He founded, in 1916, the magazine "Idearium", dedicated to thought, and proposed the creation of a Basque Public University.

He was killed at the start of the Spanish Civil War on the Altuna Mendi, an outbreak in the port of Bilbao, along with 35 prisoners. Work Bibliography
