Bow figure
The figurehead is a decorative figure usually carved in wood and ornate or painted that used to carry the ships in the upper part of the tajamar, according to the hierarchy of the boat that adorned. Its use was very generalized between centuries XVI to XIX in the galleons that crossed the seas. Gradually it was disappearing with the irruption of the steel ships of World War I.
It had the double purpose of decorating and serving as identification to a marine society, in those times not literate as a whole.
