Arctic fauna

wildlife is like referring to biotics

Arctic fauna is characterized by endemic species, in this region there are few species of animals and almost no species of plants are found; due to the intense cold the animals that inhabit this region must adapt and protect themselves with a layer of fat under their skin.

Most terrestrial mammals have a white fur that they use to camouflage themselves, protect themselves or attack their prey. We found animals such as polar bear, reindeer, arctic fox, musk ox, arctic hare and snow owl.

Few birds are found, most of them in Canadian tundra. In winter the few birds that are found scarce since most of these migrate to the south in search of a warm place, with the exception of the Arctic tern that migrates between the Arctic and the Antarctic every year.

In the aquatic animals we find mostly small fish, in addition to whales, seals, dolphins.

Among the herbivorous animals that make up the Arctic tundra include hare, lemming, musk ox and caribou. They are depredated by the Arctic fox and the wolf. The polar bear is also a predator, although it prefers to hunt marine life from the ice.

There are also many birds and marine species endemic to the coldest regions. Other lands include gluttonous animals, ermines, lemmings, and terrestrial squirrels from the Arctic. Marine mammals include seals, walruses, and various species of cetaceans - bearded whales and also narwhales and beluga.
