Vocational school Eisenach
The former commercial vocational school before the renovation
The former commercial school Eisenach is a listed building in Eisenach in Thuringia. It is located on the property Georgenstraße 26 in the center of Eisenach in the immediate vicinity of the Schwarzen Brunnen. Edit HistoryQual
The building was built in the first half of the 19th century in the style of classicism. From 1842 to 1919, the building served as a business building of the Eisenach family of entrepreneurs of Eichel-Streiber, who decorated the interiors with richly stucco walls and ceilings, some of which are still preserved today. In 1919, the city acquired the building and rented it or used it until 1957, among other things, as a nursing home for the lung and as a work center. In 1957, the building became the property of the commercial organization, which rebuilt it and turned it into a commercial vocational school. In 1980 the building was put under monument protection. As a vocational school the house served until 1989, 1990 it acquired the city back. The building has been empty since the school's departure, and in 1993 the town sold it to a private person who did not use it and forfeit it.
House sponge and woodworm infestation set to the building, so that there was in the meantime a risk of collapse. In 2009, the investor of the neighboring parking garage "Am Markt" acquired the building and initiated steps for the construction of the building. The structure has been stabilized and a rehabilitation is planned for 2015. Weblinks Edit sourcetext Commons: Business school Eisenach - collection of pictures, videos and audio files
