Vemund Vikingsson
Vemund Vikingsson (768 - 866) was a Viking chieftain of Fjordane, brother of King Audbjorn of Fjordane who was defeated in the second battle of Solskjell against Harald I of Norway. Vemund was the son of Viking Skaanoyskjelmer (n.740). The sagas of the Icelanders mentions that Vemund replaced his brother and continued to govern the territory of the busy Fjordane, but when he dared to re-title the king of Fjordane, Rognvald the Wise attacked one night in Naustdal where a party and burned Vemund with ninety of his men inside a house (hús-brenna).
He had three children Berle-Kari, Frodi and Skjoldolf Vemundsson. Bibliography
