In 1949, the company sports association (BSG), Waggonbau Dessau, took second place in the southern state class in Saxony-Anhalt to participate in the final round of the Eastern Zone Championship. All the more successful was their appearance in the competition for the East Zonal FDGB football cup. The team reached the final in which they defeated Gera-Süd 1-0 on 28 August 1949. For Dessau the 28-year-old Hans Höhne, who had already played for the BSG predecessor SG Dessau-Nord, was on the position of the right defender. With the trophy gain, the BSG Waggonbau qualified for the first-ever East-German Zone League (later DS-League, GDR-Oberliga) to determine the Zemmeister 1949/50. Since the GDR was established during the course of the season, the first GDR footballer (ZSG Horch Zwickau) was stuck in the season. The BSG Waggonbau changed its name to BSG Motor Dessau during the season and finished third. Höhne played as a defensive player all 26 Ligaspiele. When, in the 1950/51 season, a second soccer league was introduced to the GDR, the championship league got the designation Oberliga. At first, Höhne was once again a member of the Dessau team, but in the winter he reduced his points, and in the previous season he was only offered in three league games. In the 1951/52 season, Höhne still belonged to the BSG Motor, but only in September 1951 and at the end of the season in 1952 played three points. He then finished his career in the football league for 31 years. Within three seasons, he had made 48 appearances in the highest East German football class as a defensive player, but he did not score a goal. Edit source text Weblinks Edit sourcetext
