Trylvason's son of Olaf
Olafsdrápa Tryggvasonar (in Spanish: The Draper of Olav Tryggvason) is an Icelandic scale poem composed around 1200.
plot
It tells the story of the life of the king of the tenth century Olav Tryggvason, from his birth, his stay in Russia and his death in the battle of Svolder. The poem is only preserved in the manuscript Bergsbók finding the text with some deficiencies. After 16 verses dróttkvætt there is an estimated void of 40 verses, followed by 12 final verses that are preserved. Authorship The poem attributes the poem to the Hallfreðr vandræðaskáld, the poet of the court of Olav, but this attribution is rejected by modern scholars. The composition has many similarities with Rekstefja, another poem of the same time on the same subject and preserved in the same manuscript.
The unknown author was influenced by early twelfth-century poets such as Einarr Skúlason and Þorkell Hamarskáld. Bibliography
