Kafka Society of America

The Kafka Society of America is a scientific society devoted to researching the work and times of Franz Kafka as well as the bibliography of kafkabezogen primary and secondary literature. It was founded in 1975 by Maria Luise Caputo-Mayr in San Francisco and has been based in New York City since 2001.

Since 1975, the company has organized annual meetings with the Modern Language Association (MLA), covering the entire spectrum of Kafka research. The Society publishes the Journal of the Kafka Society of America, the only Kafka magazine ever published. The editors are Maria Luise Caputo-Mayr and Julius Michael Herz (until 2001 at Temple University in Philadelphia and since 2001 in New York).
