José de Arriz
Biography
José de Arriz y Uceda was born in Lima in 1748. The Arriz family is a Peruvian patrician family that dates back to Navarre and the French Basque Country (Oloron-Sainte-Marie). His studies carried out in the Colleges of San Pablo and San Martín (where he entered the 23 of January of 1760) in the same city.
In 1764, at only 16 years old, he was appointed Doctor of Theology at the University of San Marcos and was an Advisor to the Cabildo of Lima in 1770. He was a member of the Society Lovers of the Country and publisher of the Peruvian Mercury.
He excelled as a professor at the University of San Marcos in 1769. In 1770 he was an Advisor to the Cabildo of Lima. From 1777 until independence he acted as Fiscal Agent of the Royal Audiencia, obtaining the title of Honorary Oidor in 1790. José de Arriz was one of the heroes of Independence and became a member of the High Court of Justice in 1821. < / p>
Among others, one of his greatest works was the Elogio del Excmo. Mr. Ambrosio O'Higgins, Marquis of Osorno, Viceroy of Peru, (1780). Also wrote a famous speech in favor of the independence in the Cabildo of Peru of 1821, at the end of which would pronounce the Independence of Peru. His death occurred in 1822.
José de Arriz was one of the signatories of the Peru Independence Act and a founding member of the Society of Country Lovers. Related Links
