BIS Records is a record label founded in 1973 by Robert von Bahr. It is located in Åkersberga, Sweden. BIS focuses on classical music both old and contemporary, in particular works that are not sufficiently represented in existing recordings. History Other composers from the Nordic and Baltic countries are also well represented in their catalog, including Kalevi Aho, Christian Lindberg, Jon Leifs, Geirr Tveitt and James. MacMillan. Most recently BIS has completed a five-year cycle of Beethoven symphonies with the Finnish-born conductor Osmo Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra. The cycle is in Surround 5.0 as well as Super Audio CD.
