Álvaro Rodríguez Echeverría FSC (born July 8, 1942 in San José, Costa Rica) is the generalsuperior of the Roman Catholic Order of the Brethren of the Christian Schools, the largest brotherhood with about 70,000 brothers in 80 countries of the world.
Álvaro Rodríguez joined the Order of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De la Salle Brothers) in 1959 and studied theology at the Instituto San Pío X in Salamanca, Spain, from 1961 to 1964, and from 1968 to 1972 philosophy at the Mexican Universidad La Salle ULSA). In 1968 he received the priestly ordination. From 1964 to 1992 he held teaching and administrative positions in his Order.
In 1992, he was elected Vicar General of De La Salle Brothers, based in Rome. In 2000 the election took place at the 27th Generalsuperior with a term of seven years and re-election in 2007.
