Throw brake lever

The throwing lever brake is a handbrake for tow boats and tender locomotives.

When a weight lever is thrown out, the block clearance is quickly overcome with a small ratio. When the movement continues, the gear ratio increases so that the brake pads are pressed against the tires with increasing force.

In the case of tow boats, the throwing-lever brake acts as a rule on all axles, in the case of tender locomotives only on the driving and coupling axles. Edit source text
