Richard Nibley


Fred Richard Nibley (April 29, 1913 - September 22, 1979) was an American violinist, composer and educator. He is often cited as an expert in the influence of music on behavior. Biography

Richard was born in Medford, Oregon. His parents were Alexander Nibley and Agnes Sloan. His great brother, Hugh Nibley and his great-grandfather, Alexander Neibaur, was the first Jew to become Mormon.

Richard spent many years of his life teaching at Snow College in Ephraim (Utah). He lived in a pioneer house on Main Street in Ephraim that was built by Canute Peterson, a Mormon early movement leader in the area.

He died in the fall of 1979 of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
