Free abacus

Liber abaci (1202) is a historical book on arithmetic written by Leonardo of Pisa, better known as Fibonacci. Its title has two common translations, the book of the abacus or The book of the calculation. In this work, Fibonacci introduced to Europe the Arabic numerals, a major element of our decimal system, which he had learned when he studied with the Arabs while living in North Africa with his father, Guglielmo Bonaccio, who wanted him to become merchant. Liber abaci was one of the first Western books to describe the Arabic numerals, considering that the first was the Chronicle albeldense, completed in 976. Being addressed to merchants and scholars, it began to convince the public of the superiority of the new system number.

The second version of Liber Abaci was dedicated to Michael Scotus in 1227. Today there is no version of the original manuscript of 1202.
