Baños de La Albotea Hotel spa.Cervera de alhama river. the Rioja
The Baths of La Albotea is located in an isolated area, about 3 km from the town of Cervera del Río Alhama. It began to operate in 1851 at the initiative of Dr. Manuel Matheu and Fort with the facilities of the bath gallery and a first phase of the lodging building that were united by means of a covered step. His Medical Director, D. Inocente Escudero, wrote and published in Zaragoza in 1865, a manual book that collects the properties of the medicinal waters and describes the edification and instrumental of the time. After a fire in the water heating facilities, the spa closed its doors at the end of the 19th century and the building was destined partly to the farmhouse of the farm in which its garden became. In 2000, the City Council of Cervera del Río Alhama, the Government of La Rioja and the Ministry of Public Works convened an architecture competition to enable the restoration of architects Conrado Capilla and Pucho Vallejo. According to this project, the old building was totally rehabilitated and new pavilions were built to house the treatment area and other hotel facilities.
