Amanadeutsch

The West-German language Amanadeutsch or Kolonie-Deutsch is spoken in the Amanakolonien in Iowa in the USA, which exists since 1854/55. These settlements were founded by radicals and pietist emigrants from the entire German-speaking area, but above all from Hesse, who took their dialect and largely retained it. Because, as inspired, they had little contact with their environment, their language remained relatively unaffected from the outside until the 1930s. After this time, "the great change" (the great change) was decided from a co-operation of several independent causes, bringing the colony inhabitants closer to the outside world.
