Shizuka Ijūin
Shizuka Ijūin (Japanese 伊 集 院 静, Ijūin Shizuka, born February 9, 1950) is a Japanese writer.
The son of Korean immigrants studied at Rikkyō University. In 1974 he received Japanese citizenship. After working for television, he began his career as a writer in 1988. He received the Yoshikawa-Eiji Prize for the novel Chibusa (filmed in 1993 by Kichitaro Negishi), and the Naoki Prize for Uke zuki in the following year. Other works include Kaikyō (1991) and Goro-goro (2002, Yoshikawa-Eiji Prize). With Masato Kato and Shōtarō Oikawa he wrote the screenplay for Ryuichi Hiroki's film Kikansha sensei (2004). In 2007 he published a biography of the baseball player Hideki Matsui (Hideki Matsui: sportsmanship, modesty and the art of the home run).
