José Varas

José Varas (Navarro, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1855 - Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1910 was a journalist who for many years served in the newspaper La Nación in Buenos Aires and was the first president of the Press Circle .

He was only eleven years old when he wrote his first journalistic note in the Buenos Aires newspaper, La Palabra de Mayo. It was acquiring practice and in 1878 published his first note in the newspaper the Nation, titled Society of the Pito, happening later to work like cronista parliamentary.

He was elected first president of the Circle of Chronicles founded on February 2, 1891 that on April 26, 1896 changed its name to the current name of Círculo de la Prensa, the oldest journalism in the country and from that position bregó for the rights of journalists.

He died in Buenos Aires in 1910.
