Ten Blake Songs
Ten Blake Songs is a cycle of tenor and oboe songs composed during Christmas 1957 by Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958), for the 1958 film William Blake's Vision for Guy Brenton for Morse Films. first nine songs are Songs of Innocence and Experience by the English poet and visionary William Blake (1757-1827); the tenth is of Innocence by the same poet. The cycle is dedicated to tenor Wilfred Brown and the oboist Janet Craxton. It premiered in the Third Program of the BBC, 8 of October of 1958, shortly after the death of the composer.
