Correus († 51 BC) was a leader of the Belgian tribe of the Bellovaker. He fell in the battle against troops Gaius Iulius Caesars.
After his victory over Vercingetorix (52 BC), Caesar had almost completely won his long-standing Gallic war. Together with Commius, the king of the Atrebates, Correus directed 51 per cent The last more important elevation of some Gallic tribes against the Roman conqueror. For a considerable time, Correus succeeded in resisting relatively successfully. At first, the Romans were defeated, and against the Romans himself, Correus applied a kind of guerrilla tactics by not engaging in any major battles and positioning his army in sheltered places. But an attack on units of troops, which had been undertaken on behalf of Caesar, had been unsuccessful. In the evolving battle, the courageously defending Correus was defeated; he did not want to flee or capitulate and found death in battle. Edit source text Edit the source text
