The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is a morning paper published in Atlanta, Georgia, created after the merger between The Atlanta Journal and The Atlanta Constitution in 1982.

This publication is among the most important newspapers in the United States, becoming a prominent print shortly after its original founding in 1868 as the Atlanta Constitution. A number of outstanding editors contributed their notoriety, as Henry W. Grady between the years 1870 and 1880; Clark Howell in the period 1942-1960 and Ralph McGill from 1960 to 1969. In 1950 he was acquired by James Cox, who already owned the Atlanta Journal newspaper, founded in 1883.

For many years both newspapers were a sort of combined diary, with editors working independently in a single publication, until they were fully unified in 2001.
