Maria Josefina Herrán Puig (Montevideo, April 26, 1930), wife of Juan María Bordaberry, constitutional president of Uruguay between 1972 and 1973 and de facto between 1973 and 1976. Nicknamed "China." Biography
Married to Juan María Bordaberry, she had 9 children: María (Psychologist), Juan María (Agricultural Engineer), Juan Martín (businessman), Juan Pedro (Lawyer, politician, Juan Pablo (Lawyer), Juan Andrés (Contador) and Ana (Textile Designer) born after June 27, 1973. The nine children gave 19 grandchildren to the Bordaberry marriage - Herran.
In 1973 he founded the Volunteer Corps of Social Coordination (VCS), a non-profit institution that develops its activities in the hospital and out-of-hospital environment. In the hospital setting he works in the Pasteur Hospital and the Pereira Rossell Hospital Center and, in the outpatient setting, in the Mobile Clinic that works by developing tasks in needy areas. About 150 volunteers, under the direction of a Board of Directors composed of thirteen members, of which Josefina Herran is the president.
It is also dedicated to teaching etiquette and protocol classes.
