Gustav Hertel

Hertel visited the Latina of the Francke Foundations in Halle (Saale). From 1867 he studied history and philology at the University of Halle. After completing her studies in 1873, Hertel took a position as a teacher at the Pädagogium of the Convent of Our Lady of Magdeburg. From 1891 he became a lecturer and finally a professor at the academy in 1891.
As a historian, Hertel mainly devoted herself to the history of Magdeburg and the surrounding area. On behalf of the Historical Commission of the Province of Saxony, Hertel is working on several records. In 1885, together with Friedrich Hülsen, he published the history of the city of Magdeburg by Friedrich Wilhelm Hoffmann. Hertel was a member of the Association for History and Classical Studies of the Duchy and Magdeburg Magdeburg, where she worked as an editor for the history sheets published by the Association for City and Country Magdeburg.
