For other uses of this term, see Timothy (disambiguation). Second Epistle to Timothy.
The Second Epistle to Timothy is part of the pastoral letters of the New Testament of the Bible, along with the First Epistle to Timothy and the Epistle to Titus
In it, Paul dramatically says: "They already sacrifice to me, and the time of my departure is close." On the verge of being executed for his faith, the author declares that from God "a spirit of fear or cowardice is not received, but of strength, love and sobriety." After affirming that "all" those who want to live piously in Christ Jesus will suffer persecutions, he wishes his enemies that "conversion make them know the truth fully and free themselves from the snare of the devil."
He warns of selfish, greedy, boastfuls and others who are "more lovers of pleasure than of God and have the appearance of godliness but deny its efficacy."
