V Republic is a political project headed by former Dominican general José Miguel Soto Jiménez, responding to the need to renew the political system of the Dominican Republic in the area of democratic pluralism and political openness.
EmergenceThe V Republic Movement comes under the protection of the V Republic Foundation, also created by former Lieutenant General Soto Jiménez, who in the period from 2000 to 2004 had held the post of Secretary of State for the Armed Forces under the administration governmental organization of Eng. Hipólito Mejía, of the Dominican Revolutionary Party. The V Republic Foundation was founded in 2004, advocating for the scope of the patriotic ideal and vocation for the future, typical of the ideas of Soto Jiménez, also a historian and essayist. Development The V Republic Movement based its development on the integration of renowned figures of Dominican political thought and for the participation in gatherings and meetings, through the exhibition of their ideas without exclusion, of characters of Dominican political life without matter the party of provenance.
On August 28, 2008, the V Republic Movement became the V Republic Party through an act of proclamation under the banner of "The Nation Before Everything."
