Suramadu-Brücke
Suramadu Bridge seen from Surabaya
The Suramadu Bridge (also Surabaya-Madura Bridge, Indonesian: Jembatan Suramadu) is the longest bridge in Indonesia. It connects the cities of Surabaya on the island of Java and Bangkalan on the island of Madura. The construction of the 5.4 km long road bridge across the road from Madura began on August 20, 2003, opening the only bridge between the two islands on June 10, 2009.
Constructive centerpiece of the Suramadu Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in three segments of 192, 434 and 192 meters in length. It has two lanes in each direction of travel and one lane for rescue vehicles as well as motorcycles.
The construction costs of the bridge built by an Indonesian-Chinese consortium have been estimated at 4.5 trillion Indonesian Rupiah (445 million US dollars). Weblinks Edit sourcetext
