Joël Pélier

Joël Pélier is a former French cyclist, born on 23 March 1962 in Valentigney (France).

He was professional from 1985 to 1990, years in which he won nine victories in the professional cycling circuit.

His greatest success as a professional was the victory in the sixth stage of the Tour de France 1989, from Rennes to Futuroscope. Gregarious climber Laudelino Cubino, but the director of his team, Javier Mínguez, challenged him to escape. The cyclist pedaled alone more than 160 km, in which he got to take a lead of 25 minutes, facing against wind and rain. He crossed the finish line with an advantage of 1 minute and 34 seconds. His parents, who had been attending Joël's career for several years, were waiting for the care of their disabled brother.
