Davidistas

Davidistas, or davidistas or joristas is a species of herejes supporters of the Dutch David Joris, that in the year 1525 began to preach a new doctrine and published that he was the true Messiah, the third David, born of God not by the flesh, but by the spirit. He said that since heaven was empty or lacking in persons worthy to enter, he had been sent to adopt children worthy of that eternal kingdom and to repair Israel not by death as Jesus Christ but by grace. He rejected with the Sadducees the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment; reproved marriage with the Adamites and approved the community of women and believed with the Manichaeans that only the body could be stained and that the soul was never stained. He regarded all pious exercises as worthless and reduced religion to pure contemplation. Such are the main errors attributed to them.
