Sausage
This article is about Dutch sausage. For German sausage of similar name, see Bratwurst.
A braadworst or verse worst is a large Dutch sausage made from pork. Along with rookworst is one of the most common sausages served with most varieties of stamppot, although it is also eaten with other dishes and can be found throughout the Netherlands and Flanders. It is a direct ancestor of the most internationally known boerewors, with which it holds great resemblance.
Typically fry in a frying pan with plenty of butter, although during the summer it is not uncommon to grill it on the barbecue. First name
Braadworst means 'roasted sausage' in Dutch, while verse worst means simply 'fresh sausage', in to it does not include preservatives and therefore must be taken fresh to avoid spoiling.
In Dutch the name braadworst is also used occasionally for the German bratwurst, although both are very different. The bratwurst is called by its native name, or Duitse braadworst, 'German braadworst'.
