After graduating from high school, she studied history and sports at the University of Bremen (1990-1996). After her first and second state exams, she taught part-time in Bremen and Lower Saxony (1997-2006) and, in parallel, phil. at the University of Bremen (2002), a historical study of the national and regional gymnastics and sporting movements of the 19th and 20th centuries. From 2006 to 2009 she was a research associate of Gabriele Klein (Department of Movement Science, University of Hamburg). From 2009 to 2014, she was Associate Professor of Sports and Body Associ - ation at the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Berne, before being appointed Associate Professor of Soci - ology of Sport at the University of Trondheim in 2014. In 2016, he was appointed Head of the Sports and Society Division at Leibniz Universität Hannover. She is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History and is the spokesman of the Sports History Section of the German Association for Sports Science.
