Markus Hongler (2016)

Markus Hongler (born 15 September 1957) is a Swiss manager. He has been CEO of Swiss Mobiliar Versicherungsgesellschaft AG since 2011. Edit LifeQualtext

The Lucerne Hongler completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Generalagentur Luzern of Mobiliar. A good 30 years later, he returned to the Mobiliar as CEO. After several trainings in Switzerland and the USA, Hongler joined Zurich Insurance in 1983, where he was a member of the Executive Board of Zurich Switzerland from 1997 to 2001, and then CEO of Zurich Global Corporate in Europe until 2005. From 2006 to 2008, Hongler was CEO of Zurich's Swiss business, after which he served as CEO of Western Europe until 2011 and a member of the expanded Group Executive Board of Zurich Financial Services.

In May 2011 Hongler succeeded Urs Berger as CEO of Mobiliar Versicherung.

Hongler has been a member of the Swiss Insurance Association (SVV), the Board of Directors of Eurapco AG in Zurich since 2011, and a board member of AMICE in Brussels. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lucerne Festival and of the Konzerttheater Bern as well as the President of the "Jugend und Wirtschaft" Association.
