Kollidam River

The Kolidam River (Coleroon in colonial English) is in the state of Tamil Nadu in southeastern India. It is a distributary, one of the arms in which the Kaveri River, one of the great rivers of India, in the Thanvajur Delta is divided, and runs parallel to the mother river for about 28 km to rejoin after having formed the island of Srirangam. At the southern end of the island it starts again and continues alone to the sea, where it drains near Devakottai, in the Bay of Bengal.

Its waters are used to irrigate a large region. In Lower Anaicut there is a large dam that distributes water in five parts, to the river Vadavar, to three channels and to Kumukkimanniyaru.
