Bric
The red wine type Bric is a new breed which was crossed between the grape varieties Barbera and Nebbiolo at the Istituto Sperimentale per la Viticoltura in Conegliano (Veneto). Today the institute is called CENTRO DI RICERCA PER LA VITICOLTURA. Breeder was the former Director of the Institute, Giovanni Dalmasso (1886-1974). The grape variety Albarossa was born almost at the same time.
Bric matures about 30 days after the Gutedel and belongs to the late-ripening grape varieties of the middle third maturation period (see the section in the article Rebsorte). It is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera).
