Alí el Curro, dubbed Diego del Curro, was a 15th-century Gibraltarian, converted to Christianity, who played a fundamental role in the reconquest of this Spanish city in 1462. Lifetime

In August 1462 he left Gibraltar, then owned by the Nazaries of Granada, and passed to Tarifa, where he converted to Christianity. He informed the mayor of Tarifa, Alonso de Arcos, of the weakness of his hometown, whose garrison had left for Malaga, and persuaded him to try to storm the plaza. After the failure of the initial attack, his intervention convinced the Castilians that the fall of the city was imminent and they did not have to leave the site, which resulted in the reconquest of Gibraltar the 20 of August of 1462.
