Ruins of the village
Basarán is a depopulated town of Broto, high in the valley of Otal. There are no roads or paved roads for access, although you can arrive with vehicles to Bergua and do the rest of the walk. Due to its geographical location it is the most west of the Sobrarbe region, although social and geographic had always belonged to the natural surroundings of the Overpass. The nearest villages are Cortillas and Otín, which are already the municipality of Biescas, from where you can also reach by dirt track.
It is a little more than 1 km upstream from the mouth of the ravine of La Pera (which descends from Sasa) in the ravine of Forcos. History
In 1920 it had 121 inhabitants. Monuments
Instead of being abandoned, the Romanesque church of Basarán was exceptionally moved stone by stone and rebuilt in the valley of Tena to display it in the ski resort of Formigal. It has two apses, unique thing between the Romanesque churches of Aragon. The central nave was originally a plant, but later expansions in the 16th and 17th centuries altered it.
The town also had two hermitages, dedicated to San Blas and the Virgin.
