Wiesenau (Hattmatt)

Wiesenau is a wattle in the municipality of Hattmatt in Oberelsass, France. Edit HistoryQual

The village of Wiesenau ("Wiesentowe") belonged to the lords of Lichtenberg as a fief of the Bishop of Metz, after having bought one half of the village in 1372 from the lords of Wilsperg and 1384 from Johann von Kirkel. The tithe in Wiesenau stood with the monasteries Selz and Mauersmünster to the lords of Lichtenberg.

The lords of Lichtenberg assigned Wiesenau to the Amt Buchsweiler, which was founded at the beginning of the 14th century as the office of Lichtenberg. In 1354, the daughter of Johann II (Hannemann) von Lichtenberg (1317 - † 1366), Agnes, received an income from Wiesenau as part of her dowry on her marriage to the knight Götz von Grostein

Already in the fifteenth century, the place is no longer named and has fallen desolate. Its territory was later allocated to the village of Hattmatt. Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
