Jiffy
A Jiffy refers to a short, often unspecified time interval (similar to the German "moment" or "moment"). It is assumed that the term comes from the criminal slang of the 18th century. In science and computer technology, "Jiffy" can specify different time intervals or time units defined for the application, allowing a system-related time measurement.
Richard C. Tolman vainly suggested the time interval, the light needed to travel the distance from a femtometer, that is, about 10 seconds, to call Jiffy.
In the field of computer technology, a jiffy stands for the period of the timer interrupt and thus represents a unit of operation and hardware-dependent measurement unit. As the computers became faster, 1/60 of a second is also a jiffy become common. This is approximately equivalent to the refresh rate of a computer screen.
