Giovanni Corvetto (1887-1932) was an Italian lyricist, author of songs and librettos of magazines and operettas, as well as journalistic chronicles at La Stampa in Turin.
His most famous songs were "Turin ca bugia" and "Tripoli, bel suol d'amore", with music by Colombino Arona, a patriotic work popularized by the singer Gea della Garisenda during the Italo-Turkish War (1911-1912) . The title of the song and its refrain have passed into the Italian popular language.
In spite of the enormous popularity that these songs reached, Corvetto received little economic benefit for them and died in misery. Bibliography Notes
