David R. Ditzel

David R. Ditzel has been working for more than 25 years in advanced computer design, first as a computer architect and then in rule management for more than 20 microprocessors. The first job that attracted industry attention came in 1980, when he and David A. Patterson wrote The Case for the Reduced Instruction Set Computer about the RISC techniques that were adopted by most processor vendors. p>

He founded Transmeta in 1995 to get his vision of a new type of computer: one that could learn how to improve performance and automatically increase speed depending on circumstances, the first to use advanced software as an integral part of the processor. / p>

Prior to founding Transmeta, Ditzel was director of SPARC Labs and Chief Technical Officer of the Microelectronics division of Sun Microsystems.

Ditzel has published more than 30 technical papers in the field of advanced computer design, has a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
