Calcinosis
Calcinosis is called the accumulation of calcium salts in the tissues in the form of nodules. Calcareous nodular deposits, perhaps related to parathyroid disorders, may occur under the skin or in the interstices of the muscle (mesenchyme), and can be safely recognized by their opacity to X-rays. The skin above these deposits is atrophied and may ulcerate. Also in the rare disease called universal calcinosis or calcium droplet calcium phosphate builds up in the tissues surrounding the joints, forming tophi similar to gout. Veterinary Medicine
In cattle with white Solanum glaucophyllum ingestion, epizootic calcinosis occurs.
