Egypt (mythology)
In Greek mythology, Egypt (in ancient Greek Αἴγυπτος Aígyptos), son of Belo and Anquínoe, was an African king.
Governor of Arabia, he ascended the throne of Egypt (country he gave his name) to the death of his father. He then sought to force his twin brother Dánao, king of Libya and Argos, to accept the union of his sons (Egypt had fifty sons and his brother fifty daughters, the danaids) with the daughters of his brother. Finally the marriage took place, but ended the death of all the children of Egypt except one, Lynx. Very affected, Egypt then retired to Achaia until the end of its days. Sources
