Chinook Effect
The Chinook effect is the name given to the Föhn effect in the Canadian Rockies. Origin of the term The origin of the word Chinook has been misrepresented on several occasions, due to Canadian mythology, being falsely translated as "swallow-snow", because this effect can make the snow disappear from a slope affected by the effect on a single day, being both melted and evaporated. In fact, its denomination is due to the Indian town (Chinook (tribes)) that lived in this zone of North America.
