Jerzy Karol Ablewicz (born November 1, 1919 in Krosno, Poland, March 31, 1990 in Tarnów) was bishop of Tarnów. Edit LifeQualtext

The official son attended the real school in Krosno. After his Abitur he studied theology in Przemyśl in 1937 and was ordained priest on 5 March 1943 by Bishop Franciszek Barda. After a few years in the community pontoral, he studied philosophy at the Catholic University of Lublin and promoted in 1949. He became a prefect in the priestly seminary in Przemyśl and promoter in upcoming diocesan dioceses.

Pope John XXIII. appointed him Bishop of Tarnów on 26 February 1962. He was consecrated by the Archbishop of Lvov Eugeniusz Baziak; The co-confreres were Franciszek Barda, who had already ordained him, and Karol Pękala, auxiliary bishop in Tarnów. As Bishop of Tarnów, he promoted priest education and training. He was especially concerned with missionary work in Africa and South America. In Rome, he was a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, and in the Polish Episcopal Conference he presided over pastoral commission. He attended the first and fourth meetings of the Second Vatican Council. On 10 June 1987 Pope John Paul II visited Tarnów on his pastoral visit to Poland. On this occasion he gave Jerzy Karol Ablewicz the papal "archbishop pro hac vice".
