Gray League
Section of the Vorderrhein Valley. The Gray League (Grauer Bund), sometimes called Oberbund, was formed in 1395 in the former Rhine Valley (in German Vorderrhein), Raetia region. The name derives from the gray clothes that the people wore. The Gray League allied itself with the other two powers of Raetia, the League of the House of God and the League of the Ten Jurisdictions in 1471, forming the Three Leagues. The leagues became part of the canton of Grisons (in German Graubünden) in the Helvetic Republic (1799). The Three Leagues in 1512
