Sounds developed by Joe Weiss. He does not see himself as a software developer but as a journalist. According to his own statement, he came up with the idea for the program at a workshop for photojournalism. Edit the source text
Although the software is widespread, its possibilities are very limited. Only MP3 or AIF files can be used as audio files; pictures must be in JPG format. Separate programs have to be used for image processing as well as for sound processing, since an editing in Soundslides itself is not provided. In addition, the export of the finished slideshow is only possible to a limited extent. The normal output format is a file folder with multiple files. It contains not only the audio slideshow itself, but also the HTML page surrounding it. This is very unfavorable for publication in the now common content management systems. However, Soundslides offers the possibility to use a web tool to get a code for embedding in a blog. Also a conversion into the MP4 format is offered to users of a registered program version. However, some of the effects are lost. Frequently emphasized, also by experts, in addition to the content weaknesses, that video formats offer significantly more possibilities. Soundslides developer Joe Weiss announced in May 2009 in an interview, in a newer version to react to some of the criticisms (sound processing in the program, integration of video formats). So far, however, these changes have not been realized. Single-level Edit source text
