In the Nordic mythology Líf and Lífthrasir (old Nordic Líf ok Lífþrasir, both words related to "life") are the only pair of humans that will survive the Ragnarök and repopulate the world. Together, they will worship their new pantheon of gods, ruled by Baldr. They are two human beings, who will continue and begin the new humanity, escaping the destruction of the world by hiding deep within the wood of the Yggdrasil - some say in the Forest of Hodmímir - where the sword of Surt has no power of destruction. p>
