Gothenburg and Bohus County
Das Wappen of Gothenburg and Bohus County map
Göteborgs och Bohus län was a Swedish province that existed until 1998. In 1998, the province, with the provinces of Skaraborgs län and Älvsborgs län, started in the newly founded province of Västra Götaland län. The capital of the city was Gothenburg, part of which was also in Uddevalla. The country had been assigned the letter (länsbokstav) O, which is now being used by Västra Götaland. To the north it borders the Fylke Østfold in Norway, partly separated by the Svinesund and the Idefjord. To the east it borders the historical provinces of Dalsland and Västergötland and in the south by Halland. The three largest islands in the bordering Kattegat are Orust, Hisingen and Tjörn. The borders up to 1998 were largely consistent with those who were drawn up at the end of the 17th century. In 1680, Bohuslän was merged with the city of Gothenburg and the surrounding Harden Sävedal, Askim and Östra Hising, and two years later Gothenburgs och Bohus län. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
